Call for Dylan Studies Syllabi

The TU Institute for Bob Dylan Studies calls all writers, critics, and educators to send syllabi related to Dylan’s music, artwork, and legacy in American culture.

Since the Institute began in 2017, we have hosted multiple international conferences drawing hundreds to Tulsa to celebrate and investigate Dylan’s world. Smaller symposia, like Dylan in the Classroom or 2022’s Dylan and the Beats, solicited experts on literature, music, and history to present research covering special topics that intersect with Dylan’s career, influences, and his applications in higher education.

To continue the Institute’s expansive vision, we are compiling Dylan-related syllabi to create a repository for educators, teachers, and independent scholars eager to explore the Nobel laureate’s impact on the great American song tradition. The Institute, however, will not limit syllabi to music-focused courses. We welcome syllabi from all disciplines with various emphases—from Dylan’s early protest songs, to his film career, to his more contemporary paintings and iron-wrought sculptures. The Institute intends not only to highlight the myriad applications of Dylan’s career and work in the classroom, but also to stoke new ways to discover the history of the twentieth century through the American singer-songwriter tradition.
